Ok. I've been meaning to do one of these post type things for a while.

Hello if you're just stumbling across this, or returning for a visit *wave*. On other site's I'm known as Madra and Firefly, so either of those are dang-diddly acceptable. I prefer the former though, hint hint.
Here shall be found...anything sim related really. Posting any pictures of game happenings, any experiments in meddling with CC, and possibly the CC itself if it isn't too crap. We'll see. I am a newbie in that field, so it might be a while before I get the hang of things start to finish.

For anyone who knows me and is on Dreamwidth, I have an account there as well; not for simmies, but for my photography. Feel free to add me though. And hey, if you're like minded and on Flickr, I'm also there. Yippee!

Anyway, forgive any nerdy humour you may come across on here. Feel free to facepalm on my account though.

*Madra

A quick post, because I'm sleepy, but wanted to get this out of the way before I called it quits.

You know, I never really bothered to ever look into creating my own walls & floors, because I honestly couldn't be arsed downloading Homecrafter from the TS2 site. I know. Laziness.

However, out of sheer boredom on this long night I'm having, I did a few hours ago. And winging it, figuring out the ropes by oneself, I tried making my own wallpaper, with some free to share textures I found (& love) on Flickr.

Now...it's not to my liking exactly. But...am I being big of head in saying this isn't that crap? I mean the skirting board is quite shitty looking to me, as I'd no idea how to even approach that. I just masked off a piece of wood texture to go over the "paper",  & added the shadowing with another layer and a quick brush & blur. Maybe the texture is just too...something. I don't know. I went on a tutorial search to see if I could find any help, but only the MTS tute came to my attention, and it's lacking in images so isn't much help. /hmph.

I haven't had a chance to try it in game yet, because at nearly 2am, I really don't want to sit & wait the 30mins+ for my game to load to do so. I will do so tomorrow however.

Well that's the end of my ramble.

Holy crap. I got a new monitor today, as my other decided to go insane & glitch like fuck. So I have a nice, new, shiny Philips flatscreen. And dear lord, my other screen must've been in bad shape, and old to boot. My game looks amazing; the colours, the crispness! Ahh. Seriously, I'm thrilled with how defined and bright everything looks *happy face*

I've posted this elsewhere, and decided to put it up here as well. 'Tis a cottage, aye. In typical 'me in Veronaville with the pretties' style. I've decorated this already (this is a replica, really) so I may be bold & post pics of that up here as well after. Because I can.+Collapse )

Um yeh, so dinner was a swift affair.

I should include a "cut" but I'm in a rush.

Well since...August? when I read over some tutorials, I occasionally have a go at retexturing a hair I like that hasn't been done yet (to my knowledge). Usually, this ends up with me frustrated, swearing at CS2, and pissed I'm not a fancy graphic designer type person who knows mad tricks and shortcuts on Photoshop. However, in the past...lets guess, 6-8 attempts I've made overall...I've gotten better. Less swearing. Not as peeved. And I'm going to go out on a limb and say this ain't too shabby. As far as my standards go anyway.

I'm rambling. To the point: I did this a while ago and I didn't think it was crap. I took (very bad) pics in-game because I personally don't think Bodyshop pics are an accurate example, or a good one, of what the thing looks like. Besides, you're going to be using it in your game anyway, right?

The lower half of this mesh was a bitch to do. Required a lot of fiddling, which I did over a period of god knows how long. It's an oldie of Raon's, number unknown (I can't be arsed checking, sorry). But you know...I like it well enough to use in-game. Now all I have to do is learn how to bin hair. Hmm. That could be...moar frustration & swearing. I guess we'll see :/

You know, I am a bit....blonde? at times (no offence to blonde's, y'all cool). I always forget I have this LJ. And I forget about my DW too. I've neglected them both :(

On the upside, I has pictures of attempts at things. That should be so un-fecking funny to post. Because I think I've failed a tad. Ack well. A few hours for dinner, then I'll drag my ass back here, I suppose. Bleh.

I like building houses. I really do. And...well. A few have expressed interest & said nice things. So I thought I'd upload some, when I got around to creating nice ones. Which I have.

For the longest time I wanted to make a series of little cottages, suitable for 1-3 sims, (so small families or couples). Something that evoked the style of the street I used to live on (oh the lovely memories), but with more of a beachy feel, so they could be used as Vacation lots as well, which is what they shall be in my own game.

I've finally started this, and I've got 2 lots to share, and 2 more on the way. I'm thinking of making about...10? Lots altogether. Seeing as they are themed, a lot of the same walls, floors etc will be used in each lot, and they will be decorated pretty much the same on the outside. This is intentional, just in case someone thinks I'm not trying hard to produce fancy things.

Well. Onwards and upwards. 1 Plum Road to be posted above.
